கிருஷ்ணகிரி மாவட்டத்தில் ஒருவரால் வணிக நோக்கில் சட்டவிரோதமாக கடத்தப்பட்ட ஒரு டன் குட்கா பொருட்கள் லாரியில் இருந்து பறிமுதல் செய்யப்பட்டன | Police in Krishnagiri district have seized one ton of banned gutkha products that were being transported illegally in a lorry for commercial distribution.
தனி அறை அமைத்து கீரனூர் அருகே கடத்தல் நடவடிக்கையில் ஈடுபட்டதாக தகவல் கிடைத்ததை அடுத்து காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் திடீர் சோதனை நடத்தினர். அதில் லாரியில் மறைத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த பெருமளவு குட்கா பைகளைக் கண்டுபிடித்து பறிமுதல் செய்தனர்.
இது தொடர்பாக இருவர் கைது செய்யப்பட்டு விசாரணை நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. தமிழகத்தில் குட்கா விற்பனை மற்றும் உற்பத்தி தடை செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தபோதும், இத்தகைய சட்டவிரோத வர்த்தகம் தொடர்வது குறித்து பொதுமக்கள் கடும் அதிருப்தி தெரிவித்துள்ளனர்.
Police sources said that despite the statewide ban on the sale and production of gutkha and other tobacco-based products, illegal trade continues to thrive through hidden supply chains.
The arrested individuals are being questioned to identify the network behind the distribution. Officials reiterated that strict surveillance and action will continue against those involved in the smuggling and sale of banned products.
