இந்தியாவுக்கு உலக அளவிலான போட்டியில் பங்கேற்க பெரிய வங்கிகள் தேவையென நிதியமைச்சர் நிர்மலா சீதாராமன் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
ஆர்பிஐ மற்றும் வங்கிகளுடன் இணைந்து, இதற்கான பணிகள் தொடங்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும், தற்போது உள்ள பொது துறை வங்கிகள் இணைப்பின் மூலம் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சிக்கு புதிய உயரத்தை எட்டுவதே குறிக்கோளாகும் எனவும் அவர் கூறினார்.
நிதியமைச்சு வட்டாரங்கள் தெரிவித்ததாவது, இந்த திட்டத்தின் கீழ் சில பெரிய வங்கிகள் ஒன்றிணைந்து “மெகா வங்கிகள்” ஆக உருவாக்கப்படும். இது இந்தியாவின் சர்வதேச நிதி திறனையும், உலக பொருளாதார தளத்தில் போட்டித்திறனையும் உயர்த்தும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.

The initiative will involve mergers among major public sector banks in collaboration with the RBI, aimed at boosting India’s global financial presence. Officials said the move will help India achieve stronger economic resilience and improved international competitiveness in the banking sector.
