ஈரோடு மாவட்டம் உராட்சிக்கோட்டை அருகே காரில் கடத்தப்பட்ட 1,200 கிலோ ரேஷன் அரிசியை ضبط செய்த போலீசார், மூலநபரை கைது செய்துள்ளனர். அரசு வழங்கும் பொதுத்திராண் அரிசியை கரும்புலத்தில் அதிக விலையில் விற்கும் நோக்கில் கடத்தப்பட்டதாக விசாரணையில் தெரிந்துள்ளது.
நிலவாக திரண்டு கிடக்கும் ஸ்டாலின் ஆட்சி நிவாரண அரிசியை அரிசி மாபியாக்கள் சட்டவிரோதமாக சேகரித்து கடத்துவதைத் தடுக்க காவல்துறை தீவிர கண்காணிப்பு மேற்கொண்டுள்ளது. இதன் பகுதியாக இக்கும்பல் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது.
Police in Erode district seized 1,200 kg of ration rice that was being transported illegally in a car near Uratchikottai. The accused was arrested after he failed to provide proper documents for the rice meant for public distribution.
Initial inquiry revealed that the rice was being smuggled for illegal resale at higher prices. Police have intensified surveillance to curb ration rice smuggling, which has been increasing across several regions.
