சென்னையின் வேளச்சேரி பகுதியில் உள்ள HDFC வங்கியில் பணியாற்றும் மேலாளர் ஒருவர் NRI வாடிக்கையாளரின் லாக்கரில் இருந்து 238 கிராம் தங்கம் காணாமல் போனதால் பதட்டம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. வாடிக்கையாளர் புகாரின் பேரில் போலீசார் விசாரணை நடத்தி சம்பந்தப்பட்ட மேலாளரை கைது செய்துள்ளனர்.
அவர் ரூ.21 லட்சம் மதிப்புள்ள நகைகளை அடுக்குக்கடையில் விற்றுவிட்டதும், ரூ.20 லட்சம் பணத்தை வங்கியில் இல்லாத தனிப்பட்ட நிலையில் வைத்திருந்ததும் விசாரணையில் தெரியவந்துள்ளது. இந்த சம்பவம் வங்கிகளின் பாதுகாப்பு குறித்து மக்களிடையே கேள்விகளை எழுப்பியுள்ளது.

A shocking incident has unfolded at an HDFC Bank branch in Velachery, Chennai, where 238 grams of gold went missing from the locker of an NRI customer. Following the customer’s complaint, police conducted an investigation and arrested the bank manager involved.
Investigations revealed that the manager had sold jewellery worth ₹21 lakh in a pawn shop and kept ₹20 lakh cash without proper authorization. This has raised serious concerns about locker security and internal monitoring systems in banks.
