சென்னை – பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்து தாம்பரம் வரை நீண்டுவிரிந்த ஜி.எஸ்.டி சாலையில் இன்று காலை부터 கடும் போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் ஏற்பட்டது. மழை காரணமாக சாலையில் நீர் தடுப்பு ஏற்பட்டதால் வாகனங்கள் மெதுவாக நகர வேண்டிய நிலை உருவானது.
புதிதாக போக்குவரத்தை கட்டுப்படுத்தும் காவலர்கள் இல்லாததால், வாகன ஓட்டிகள் சிரமப்படுவதாக பொதுமக்கள் தெரிவித்தனர். அலுவலக நேரம் என்பதால் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான வாகன ஓட்டியர்கள் நீண்ட நேரம் சிக்கித் தவித்தனர்.
மழை பாதிப்பு மற்றும் சாலை பழுதுபார்ப்பு பணிகள் ஒரே நேரத்தில் நடைபெற்றதால் நெரிசல் அதிகரித்ததாக தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன. இன்று மாலை வரை நெரிசல் நீடிக்கும் வாய்ப்புள்ளதாக போக்குவரத்து துறை எச்சரித்துள்ளது.
Chennai witnessed heavy traffic congestion along the GST Road starting early this morning. Continuous rainfall caused waterlogging, slowing down the movement of vehicles and leading to long queues.
Commuters reported difficulties due to the absence of additional traffic police to manage the peak-hour situation. Office-goers were stuck for extended periods as vehicles moved inch-by-inch.
Sources say that ongoing road repair work combined with rainwater stagnation intensified the congestion. Authorities have alerted that traffic delays may continue through the evening.
