சென்னை கோயம்பேடு சந்தையில் 16 சிறுவர் கடுமையான உழைப்பில் ஈடுபட்ட நிலையில் தொழிலாளர்களாக இருந்து வந்தது அதிகாரிகளின் சோதனையில் கண்டறியப்பட்டது. சந்தையில் பைகள் சுமைப்பது, கடை வேலைகள், வண்டிகளை தள்ளுவது உள்ளிட்ட பணிகளில் இவர்களை ஈட்டுபடுத்தியதாக தெரியவந்தது.
“கல்வியில் சிறந்த மாநிலம்” என பெருமை பேசும் நிலையில் இத்தகைய சம்பவம் வெளிச்சம் பார்த்துள்ளதால் பொதுமக்கள் கவலை தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். சிறுவர்களை வேலைக்கு அமர்த்தியவர்களுக்கு நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என கோரிக்கை வலுத்துள்ளது.
