வேளூர் அருகே உள்ள மெக்கானிக் கடையில் பணியாற்றிய 13 வயது சிறுவன், மின்கம்பிகளை சரிசெய்ய முயன்றபோது மின்சாரம் தாக்கி சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே உயிரிழந்தது பெரும் சோகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.
மூன்று ஆண்டுகளாக அதே கடையில் வேலை பார்த்த சிறுவன் என தகவல் வெளியாகியுள்ளது. குழந்தை தொழிலாளர் தடை சட்டத்தை மீறியும் வேலைக்கு வைத்தது குறித்து கடை உரிமையாளரின் மீது மக்கள் கடும் கண்டனம் தெரிவித்து வருகின்றனர்.
சம்பவம் நடந்த பிறகும் அருகிலிருந்தவர்களினால் உடனடி பாதுகாப்பு நடவடிக்கை எதுவும் எடுக்கப்படவில்லை என கூறப்படுகிறது.
A 13-year-old boy working at a mechanic shop near Vellore reportedly died on the spot after being electrocuted while attempting to fix exposed electrical wires.
According to locals, the boy had been employed illegally at the shop for nearly three years, violating the Child Labour Prohibition Act.
Residents questioned why labour officials and authorities failed to intervene earlier despite knowing that minors were working at the shop.
