சென்னை முழுவதும் கடந்த சில வாரங்களாக தெருநாய்கள் தாக்குதல் சம்பவங்கள் அதிகரித்து வருகின்றன. அரசு பள்ளிகள், கல்லூரிகள், அரசு அலுவலகங்கள் மற்றும் மருத்துவமனைகளில் கூட நாய்கள் அலைந்து திரிவதால் மக்கள் கவலை அதிகரித்துள்ளது.

மாணவர்கள், நோயாளிகள், பொதுமக்கள் தினமும் நாய்களின் தாக்குதலால் பாதிக்கப்படும் நிலை அதிகரித்துள்ளது. குறிப்பாக அதிகாலை மற்றும் இரவு நேரங்களில் தாக்குதல் சம்பவங்கள் தொடர்ந்து இடம்பெறுவதால் பாதுகாப்பு சிக்கல்கள் அதிகரித்து வருகின்றன.
நாய்களைப் பிடிக்கும் பணிக்கான வளங்கள், மனிதவளம், மருத்துவ வசதிகள் ஆகியவை போதாமை காரணமாக, மாநில அரசு மற்றும் மாநகராட்சி மீது மக்கள் அதிருப்தி அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
Stray dog attacks across Chennai have been rising steadily in recent weeks. Schools, colleges, offices, and even hospitals have reported incidents of stray dogs roaming freely, leading to public fear.
Despite the Supreme Court’s earlier direction urging authorities to strengthen stray dog control measures, visible improvements remain limited.
Students, patients and daily commuters continue to face frequent attacks, especially during early mornings and late evenings. With inadequate manpower, equipment, and medical support, the city’s capacity to handle the stray population remains weak.
Residents have urged the Chennai Corporation and Tamil Nadu government to act swiftly to restore safety in neighbourhoods.
