தமிழகத்தைச் சேர்த்து, நாடு முழுவதும் செயல்படும் அரசு மற்றும் தனியார் பல்கலைக்கழகங்களில் நடைபெறும் ஆய்வு செயல்பாடுகளின் தரம், வெளிப்படைத்தன்மை மற்றும் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தல் குறித்து உச்சநீதிமன்றம் விரிவான ஆய்வு செய்ய மத்திய அரசுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளது. பல மாணவர்களும் ஆசிரியர்களும் தெரிவித்த புகார்கள், குறைபாடுகள், போலியான ஆய்வுகள், வழிகாட்டு சீர்கேடுகள் ஆகியவை கருத்தில் கொண்டு இந்த உத்தரவு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
பல்கலைக்கழகங்களில் ஆய்வு தரம் தொடர்ந்து சரிவடைந்ததாக நீதிமன்றம் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளது. மேலும், ஆய்வுக்கான அடிப்படை வசதிகள், வழிகாட்டிகளின் பொறுப்புகள், ஆய்வு முறைகளின் நெறிமுறைகள் ஆகியவை சரியாக பின்பற்றப்படுகிறதா என்பதற்கும் அரசு கண்காணிப்பு அவசியமென தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
Across India, including Tamil Nadu, the Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to conduct a detailed review of research activities in both private and government universities. The order follows increasing complaints about poor-quality research, fake theses, unethical practices, and lack of proper supervision.
The court emphasized that research standards have noticeably declined in recent years. It also highlighted the need for strict evaluation of research infrastructure, supervisor accountability, and adherence to academic norms to restore credibility in higher education.
This move is expected to bring more transparency, improve academic quality, and ensure that genuine research gets the recognition it deserves.
