தமிழகம் மற்றும் புதுச்சேரி கடற்கரையிலிருந்து மீன்பிடிக்கச் சென்ற 35 இந்திய மீனவர்கள் இலங்கை கடற்படையினரால் சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்டனர் | Thirty-five fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy while fishing near the maritime border.
இந்திய மீனவர்கள் மூன்று வலைவீச்சுப் படகுகளில் கடலுக்குச் சென்றபோது, கடல் எல்லை மீறியதாகக் கூறி இலங்கை கடற்படையினர் அவர்களை கைது செய்தனர். படகுகளும் பறிமுதல் செய்யப்பட்டு, மீனவர்கள் யாழ்ப்பாணத்திற்கு அழைத்து செல்லப்பட்டதாக தகவல் வெளியாகியுள்ளது.
இவ்வாறு மீனவர்கள் அடிக்கடி சிறைபிடிக்கப்படுவது, மீன்வளத்துறையில் பெரும் கவலை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. இந்திய அரசு இதற்கு எதிராக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என கடலோர மாவட்ட மீனவர் சங்கங்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளன.
The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested 35 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, alleging that they crossed the international maritime boundary. The fishermen were detained along with three fishing boats and taken to Jaffna for further inquiry.
