சென்னை வியாசார்பாடி பகுதியில் ஏற்பட்ட கடுமையான மழையால் 99.2% மக்கள் பகுதிகள் வெள்ளத்தால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டதாக அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர். வீடுகளுக்குள் 3.4 அடி வரை நீர் தேங்கிய நிலையில், பலரும் தற்காலிக தங்குமிடங்களுக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டனர்.
95% குடியிருப்பு பகுதிகளில் தற்போது நிலைமை சாதாரணமாகியுள்ளதாகவும், நீர் வடிகால் பணிகள் வேகமாக நடைபெற்று வருவதாகவும் செய்திகள் வெளியாகியுள்ளன. நகராட்சி குழுக்கள் மற்றும் மீட்பு படையினர் சேர்ந்து பல மணி நேரங்களாக பணியாற்றி வருகின்றனர்.
சில இடங்களில் மட்டும் இன்னும் சீரமைப்பு பணிகள் நடைபெற்று வருகின்றன. மழை மீண்டும் பெய்யக் கூடும் என்பதால் மக்கள் முன்னெச்சரிக்கையுடன் இருக்க வேண்டும் என அதிகாரிகள் அறிவுறுத்தியுள்ளனர்.
Authorities have reported that nearly 99.2% of the waterlogged areas in Vyasarpadi, Chennai, have now been cleared. Heavy rains had caused up to 3.4 feet of water accumulation inside several houses, forcing many residents to move to temporary shelters.
Around 95% of the neighbourhoods have returned to normal conditions, with drainage operations continuing at full speed. Municipal teams and rescue workers have been operating round the clock to restore essential services.
Only a few pockets remain under restoration, and officials have urged residents to stay alert as chances of further rainfall remain due to prevailing weather conditions.
