திருவாரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் கடந்த சில நாட்களாக நீடித்து வரும் பருவமழை காரணமாக, பல ஊரக பகுதிகளில் விவசாய நிலங்கள் நீரில் மூழ்கின. சுமார் 10,000 ஏக்கருக்கு மேற்பட்ட நெற்பயிர்கள் மழைநீரால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக ஆரம்ப கணக்கெடுப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
