2014 ஆம் ஆண்டில் சுமார் 15 லட்சம் டன்னாக இருந்த இந்தியாவின் மீன்வள உற்பத்தி, 2023 ஆம் ஆண்டில் 40 லட்சம் டன்னை கடந்துள்ளது. இது மொத்தமாக 167 சதவீத வளர்ச்சியை பதிவு செய்துள்ளதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த வளர்ச்சி, மீன்வளத் துறையில் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்ட கொள்கை மாற்றங்கள் மற்றும் முதலீடுகளின் விளைவாக பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
ஆசியாவில் உற்பத்தியாகும் மீன்களின் 70 சதவீதத்திற்கும் மேலான பங்கு இந்தியா மற்றும் சீனா உள்ளிட்ட நாடுகளுக்கே சொந்தமானது என FAO–BOBP–IGO அமைப்பு வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கையில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது இந்தியாவின் மீன்வளத் துறையின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை மேலும் உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறது.
The data shows that India’s fish production increased from about 15 million tonnes in 2014 to over 40 million tonnes in 2023, marking an overall growth of nearly 167 percent. Experts attribute this rise to policy reforms, improved infrastructure, and increased support for fishermen.
According to a report by FAO–BOBP–IGO, more than 70 percent of Asia’s fish production comes from countries such as India and China. This highlights India’s growing role in global fisheries and its importance in ensuring food security and livelihoods.
