சென்னை எழும்பூர் ரயில் நிலையத்தில் கஞ்சா கடத்தல் முயற்சி முறியடிப்பு | Ganja smuggling attempt foiled at Chennai Egmore station
2025 டிசம்பர் 3 அன்று, சென்னை எழும்பூர் ரயில் நிலையம் பகுதியில் நடைபெற்ற கண்காணிப்பின் போது, திரிபுரா மாநிலத்தில் இருந்து கடத்தி வரப்பட்ட ரூ.6 லட்சம் மதிப்புள்ள 13 கிலோ கஞ்சாவை போலீசார் பறிமுதல் செய்தனர். இந்த வழக்கில் ஒருவர் பிடிபட்டதாக அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனர்.
ரயிலில் பயணிகளின் சாமான்களை சோதனை செய்தபோது சந்தேகத்திற்கிடமான பொதிகளில் கஞ்சா மறைத்து வைத்திருந்தது கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டது. தொடர்ந்து மேற்கொண்ட விசாரணையில், இந்த கடத்தல் முயற்சி திட்டமிட்டு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டதாக தெரியவந்துள்ளது.
பறிமுதல் செய்யப்பட்ட கஞ்சாவுடன் தொடர்புடைய பிற நபர்கள் குறித்து விசாரணை தீவிரப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும், போதைப்பொருள் கடத்தலை கட்டுப்படுத்த கண்காணிப்பு அதிகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் போலீசார் தெரிவித்தனர்.
On December 3, 2025, police seized 13 kg of ganja worth about ₹6 lakh at Chennai Egmore Railway Station during routine surveillance. The contraband was reportedly brought from Tripura, and one person was arrested in connection with the case.
Officials found the ganja hidden inside suspicious luggage during checks on passengers arriving by train. Preliminary inquiry revealed that the smuggling attempt was part of an organised operation.
Further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the network. Police said monitoring at major railway stations has been intensified to curb drug trafficking and prevent similar incidents.
