கனமழை, நிலச்சரிவால் பேரழிவு – மீட்பு பணிகள் தீவிரம் | Heavy rains and landslides trigger disaster, rescue operations intensified
2025 டிசம்பர் 6 அன்று, இலங்கையில் தொடர்ந்து பெய்து வரும் கனமழை மற்றும் நிலச்சரிவுகளால் உயிரிழந்தவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 485 ஆக உயர்ந்துள்ளது. பல பகுதிகளில் வீடுகள், சாலைகள் மற்றும் பாலங்கள் சேதமடைந்துள்ளதால் இயல்பு வாழ்க்கை பெரிதும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. வெள்ளம் மற்றும் நிலச்சரிவு காரணமாக ஆயிரக்கணக்கான மக்கள் பாதுகாப்பான இடங்களுக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
இலங்கை பேரிடர் மேலாண்மை துறை தகவலின்படி, இதுவரை 341 பேர் காணாமல் போயுள்ளதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இராணுவம், கடற்படை மற்றும் மீட்பு குழுக்கள் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதிகளில் தீவிரமாக மீட்பு மற்றும் நிவாரண பணிகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றன. மேலும் கனமழை தொடரும் என்பதால் பொதுமக்கள் எச்சரிக்கையுடன் இருக்க அறிவுறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
On December 6, 2025, the death toll due to floods and landslides in Sri Lanka rose to 485 following days of heavy rainfall. Several regions have suffered extensive damage to homes, roads and infrastructure, severely disrupting normal life. Thousands of residents have been moved to relief camps as floodwaters inundated low-lying areas.
According to disaster management authorities, at least 341 people are still reported missing. The army, navy and emergency response teams are carrying out large-scale rescue and relief operations across affected districts. With heavy rain expected to continue, residents have been urged to remain cautious and follow official advisories.
